Owner and Certified Professional Inspector

I am the owner and founder of Valor Home Inspections. I served in the United States Marine Corps for 6 years. After my service, I studied Aerospace Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. I cut my studies short to begin working in Iraq for the U.S. State Department as a private security contractor. Eventually, I finished my bachelor’s degree in aerospace science with American Military University.

I specialized in electronics and thermodynamics during my aerospace studies. When I bought my first house, I didn't know much about building science or home performance. As I began my education as a home inspector, I found it very surprising how far behind the industry was from the most recent building science developments. Most of the trade industries still operated off age-old clichés and outdated standards. A lot of building science research has been conducted all over the country in the last 20 years. We know so much more about how various systems within the home interact and how these systems perform in a variety of climates. There have been significant upgrades in the performance of building materials. However, many existing homes, and even new construction, do not incorporate modern building science principles.

Buying a new home is one of the largest investments anyone makes in their lifetime. It's very difficult to predict how a home will perform unless you understand a variety of scientific principles and modern engineering practices. I actually found that the building science discipline was MORE involved and required MORE expertise than my aerospace studies! It is my intention to help educate homeowners and builders on the foundation of modern building science. I work to help people create healthier and more comfortable homes while maximizing energy efficiency.
