What is Radon?

Radon (222Rn) is a radioactive gas that is produced from the natural decay of uranium that is found in rocks, soil, and other naturally occurring minerals. Radon is a colorless, odorless gas that can only be detected using special equipment. If inhaled or ingested, radon can further decay into radioactive products by releasing alpha particles. It is these alpha particles that are damaging to the living tissue in our lungs. Radon exposure is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. Among non-smokers, radon is the number one cause of lung cancer deaths!

Testing is the only way to know if your home has a radon problem. We are nationally certified by the National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP), so our customers know they are getting measurements they can trust and the appropriate professional advice.

Radon Testing

Radon seeps into our homes through foundations, basements and crawlspaces. The negative pressure in the home pulls the gas out of the soil and into livable spaces. The EPA recommends fixing your home if radon levels are at or above 4 pCi/L, a measurement of radon concentration in the air. Testing should be conducted by a professional that is certified by the National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP) or the National Radon Safety Board (NRSB). This ensures you get quality results and appropriate mitigation recommendations.

Every home should be tested for radon. Wyoming is in a critical zone for radiation exposure according to the EPA. The only way to know if your home has a radon problem is testing. We can help you determine your level of risk to radon and implement the proper mitigation strategy. We also offer FREE follow-on testing to ensure any mitigation strategy is effective.
